In 2021 we purchased a new Ginetta G56 GT4 V8 Ultimate from Ginetta. The price paid for this car was approximately $220,000. This car is now branded their GTX car. The power of the car was agreed to be 520 BHP. The car was delivered with a substantially underpowered engine and has had multiple failures since delivery. The extent of the failures and the lack of support from both Ginetta USA and Ginetta UK has led to an ongoing dispute whereby Ginetta have agreed to compensate us in the amount of 22,299GBP. This amount is significantly less than the cost to repair and correct the car. Despite having an agreement with Ginetta UK to compensate us in this amount, they have failed to do so. Recently, we discovered that even though we paid for a new car, the car that was shipped used old and used components dating back to 2017 that they had taken from other vehicles. The fact that Ginetta have:
- Shipped a car that is unreliable and unsafe, including but not limited to:
- Monumental oil leak, returned to Ginetta and not repaired. We had to replace the engine to repair the leak
- Brakes that last less than a weekend.
- Brakes that lock up and seize on track
- An engine that excessively vibrates to the point it cracked a windshield
- Fuel cell failure and leaks causing fuel spillage and a potential fire
- Gearbox that sticks in first gear
- Broken pulley wheel bolts
- Broken AC bracket
- Broken gearbox mounts
- Non functioning AC unit and bad heat management resulting in cabin temperatures higher than 140 degrees F.
- Shipped a car that is far below specification
- The agreed specification was for a car that produced 520 BHP. When dyno’ed the car produced 413BHP. On the same day, on the same dyno, using the same fuel a standard Porsche GT3 cup produced 470BHP both at the wheels. The Ginetta is consequentially 57 BHP less than the Cup and yet Porsche claim 35BHP less than Ginetta. The only conclusion is the Ginetta is woefully underpowered to the extent of approximately 57 + 35 = 92BHP compared to what was specified. Here are the dyno sheets.

- Failed to provide the agreed upon compensation
- It has cost approximately $150,000 to $180,000, to repair and raise the car to the agreed upon specification, but in the interest of maintaining an amicable relationship with the Ginetta factory, we agreed with Mike Simpson, the Motorsports Director, of Ginetta UK to accept an amount of 22,299 GBP. This was agreed in July of 2024. Mike Simpson has repeatedly backed away from this agreement blaming Lawrence Tomlinson, the CEO and Owner of Ginetta UK for not honoring this agreement.
- Shipped a new car that used old used components and not new components.
- Today we learned that Ginetta sold us a NEW car in 2021 but USED old components in this build. The Xtrac gearbox was a used component as was the Megaline gearbox actuator. THIS IS DISPICABLE BEHAVIOR FOR A CAR MANUFACTURER TO PRESENT AND SELL A CAR AS NEW AND SHIP A CAR CONTAINING USED COMPONENTS. This act by Ginetta has prompted this site and the pending suit. Other people need to know that Ginetta are selling new cars with used components.
A significant problem with Ginetta is that they will not address and resolve a problem. Staff blame each other, no one will make a decision, and the staff will not provide manager information if you have a grievance.
Not only did we buy a 2021 Ginetta GT4, we also bought a 2018 GT4. The reason for the 2021 purchase was that the car should have been a very capable car based on the 2018 car. The 2018 car was a light good handling car but had issues. Because of these issues we felt it necessary to procure a letter from Ginetta CEO and LNT Care Developments CEO Matt Lowe providing some guarantees. This letter states that we would have:
- “Ongoing access to Ginetta UK for correspondence and technical help and support where required”
Here is a copy of the letter. The 2021 GT4 had numerous problems as described elsewhere and very quickly Ginetta staff started ignoring us to the extent that we asked for Matt Lowes’ contact information so we could try to resolve our problems. DESPITE HAVING THIS WRITTEN GUARANTEE neither:
- Jamie Robinson, Ginetta Head of Sales, Or
- Clive Seddon, Ginetta Technical Director
Would provide Matt Lowes’ contact information. Each blamed each other and neither would help. However, both were the only people involved when discussing and determining the specification and collecting the money for the car. We, the customer, were left with no one to raise our issues to.
We even contacted Matt Lowe (the Ginetta CEO and the LNT Group CEO and author of the letter) directly through Linked In but he ignored our messages.
Recently, they have involved Gareth Wilson, the group financial controller in LNT. He claims that he is not authorized to make a decision on this issue.
We have also involved Jonathan Wharam, another executive that has also remained silent.
To summarize:
- Ginetta have sold us a grossly underperforming car that does not meet the agreed to specification
- Ginetta have sold us a hugely unreliable car
- Ginetta have sold us a dangerous car. The brakes locked on and caused a crash. This also happened to Ginetta’s own car in the British GT sending driver Freddie Tomlinson into the barrier.
- Ginetta ship new cars with used components. They used a gearbox and actuator that failed at approximately 21 hours from new. However, we now know the gearbox and actuator were in fact old parts that were some four years old when fitted to our allegedly new car. The new cost of the gearbox and actuator are over $55,000. This amount is NOT included in the $150,000 to $180,000 mentioned elsewhere.
- Ginetta will not honor their promise to support the car.
- Ginetta will not honor the agreed to compensation amount
- No one in Ginetta will take ownership of a problem and will pass the problem to someone else or delay. We have been arguing with Ginetta for years now.
For the above reasons it would appear the only way to get Ginetta’s attention is to publish this web site and file suit against Ginetta for their breach of contract.
